Now that I’ve had time to calm down,

I brought up Marxist theory  to talk about gender and gender roles and how capitalism propagates misogyny and patriarchy during that discussion regarding feminism. Only one person verbally expressed that they agreed with my assessment. 

The professor stood in front of the class, and kind of smirked before saying, “You know, my Dad listens to Right wing radio, and he always says, ‘Oh, you academics and your indoctrination of communism when really we have nothing to do with that at all. We’re just glad you can write a paper.’”

And I responded, “Oh, I don’t need any help with indoctrination in regards to communism or Marxist theory.”

And he said in a very condescending voice, “Clearly, well, at least you’re well-versed in it. I suppose that counts for something.” 

And I retorted, “Oh, yeah, I’m far more well-versed and well-read on Marxist and leftist theory in general. Of course, I suppose it’s easy to just repudiate something you barely know about. That’s what we do in academia, right?” 

He kind of froze momentarily and went on with the lesson like I didn’t say a thing. Throughout the lesson, he tried to collect himself, but he continued to stutter and fumble over his words. 

I’m such an asshole, but I have no fucks to give.
